The goal of all organizations should be to integrate their quality, environmental and health and safety systems with the core business activities.  Management system operated in silos designed only to pass audits are ineffective and expensive to operate.  If crafted with skill, integrated management systems can be much more efficient and effective than systems operated in isolation from the core business or several systems (EMS, QMS, OHSMS) operated independent of each other.

System integration also provides an organization an opportunity to use lessons learned in the past and keep the best attributes of each system weeding out those process or procedures that have been proven over the years to be less effective of difficult to use.  Integrating management systems can dramatically improve system performance, reduce the cost to operate the system and provide exciting returns on the management system investment.
